Conservation Status: Not of concern

Description:
Identification Notes:

It is a fairly common mushroom in the PNW and southward into California, however the status of its name is in question, making it difficult to assess its overall distribution. Recent studies suggest that the names A. moelleri, A. praeclaresquamosus, and A. meleagris all refer to the same taxon, which differs from A. placomyces, a similar species common in eastern North America. Limited analyses suggest that Pacific Coast material does not exactly fit any of these names and that more than one new species could be present here.
